Shingles can be prevented with a vaccine. The shingles vaccine used by Aava is also suitable for people with immunodeficiency. A series of two vaccinations provides effective and long-lasting protection against shingles.

A series of two vaccinations provides effective and long-lasting protection against shingles. The vaccine can be given to all people over the age of 50 and people over the age of 18 who are at increased risk of shingles. The booster vaccine can be given 2-6 months after the first vaccine.

Please note that only adults can buy vaccines online.

The price includes a service fee, administration of the injection by a nurse and the vaccine. No other fees will be added to the price.

Preparation instructions

  • An active case of shingles is an obstacle to vaccination. The vaccine can be administered once the person has recovered and the rash has healed.

If you have a fever or a febrile infectious disease, please postpone the vaccination until a later time when you are healthy.

The vaccine is not given to a person who has previously had a serious reaction (anaphylaxis) to the vaccine or its ingredients.

The final assessment of the suitability of the vaccine is always carried out at the appointment.

  • 2. Book a vaccination appointment

    Book an appointment for the vaccination by calling +358(0)10 380 3838 or via the online booking (log in first). When booking the appointment, please tell us which vaccine you have purchased. You can find the Aava locations that offer this service on this page by searching for the service name.

  • 3. Go to the vaccination

    Familiarise yourself with the preparation instructions and arrive well in advance. The purchased service must be used within 6 months.

  • 4. Ensure that your vaccination protection is up to date

    For example, it is recommended for the influenza vaccine to be taken at the start of each new influenza season.
