Pneumococcal bacteria cause upper and lower respiratory tract infections, especially in children and the elderly. Some of the infections are common post-viral infections and some are more serious. You can protect yourself against serious pneumococcal diseases by taking a vaccine.

There are several vaccines against pneumococcus. The goal of all these vaccines is to protect against a serious form of pneumococcal disease. The vaccine is highly effective and reduces the risk of serious pneumococcal disease by approximately 75%.

Aava uses two different pneumococcal vaccines, which are recommended especially for people in the risk group. There is a 13-valent vaccine available that offers protection against 13 different types of pneumococcus. The second, slightly more effective vaccine is 20-valent.

The offer price includes the service fee, the administration of the injection by a nurse and the vaccine. No other fees will be added to the price. Normal price EUR 119.58-127.56. The offer is valid until 31 December 2026.

Preparation instructions

If you have a fever or a febrile infectious disease, please postpone the vaccination until a later time when you are healthy.

The vaccine is not given to a person who has previously had a serious reaction (anaphylaxis) to the vaccine or its ingredients.

The final assessment of the suitability of the vaccine is always carried out at the appointment.

    After purchasing the vaccination from the online store, you will receive an order confirmation and a redemption code by email. You can also give the code as a gift.

  • 2. Book a vaccination appointment

    Book an appointment for the vaccination by calling +358(0)10 380 3838 or via the online booking (log in first). When booking the appointment, please tell us which vaccine you have purchased. You can find the Aava locations that offer this service on this page by searching for the service name.

  • 3. Go to the vaccination

    Familiarise yourself with the preparation instructions and arrive well in advance. The purchased service must be used within 6 months.

  • 4. Ensure that your vaccination protection is up to date

    For example, it is recommended for the influenza vaccine to be taken at the start of each new influenza season.
