The lifestyle change laboratory package is a good choice if you want to know how improvements to your lifestyle, healthier food and increased exercise affect your blood work.

Lifestyle change can be observed surprisingly quickly in the form of improved blood work. That is why the results can offer a perspective into your health that you cannot see with your eyes.

The package allows you to easily check your basic blood count, inflammation levels, vitamin levels, liver and thyroid status and your risk of developing gout and diabetes, among other things.

Studies included in the package

  • Basic blood count and blood platelets (B-PVKT): the blood count includes eight different sub-tests: white blood cells, haemoglobin, red blood cells, red blood cell volume fraction, mean red blood cell volume, average red blood cell haemoglobin concentration and blood platelets.
  • C-reactive protein (S-hs-CRP): used, for example, to determine the risk of coronary artery disease and to investigate latent inflammation in the body.
  • Liver test  (S-Alat): helps to identify possible liver diseases or liver dysfunction at an early stage.
  • Vitamin D (S-D-25): a fat-soluble vitamin needed for normal bodily function. It is important for bone health, for example.
  • Blood sugar (fP-Gluk): helps identify possible diabetes or blood sugar disorders.
  • Thyroid test  (S-TSH): test for thyroid dysfunction, such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
  • Calcium (CaAlbK): provides information on disorders of the body’s calcium metabolism, such as parathyroids and bone disorders.
  • Creatinine (fS-Krea): used for examining kidney function.
  • Cholesterol  (S-Lipids): measures the amount and quality of fat transported in the blood.
  • Potassium  (S-K): used to determine fluid and electrolyte balance.
  • Sodium  (S-Na): used to determine fluid and electrolyte balance.
  • Urate  (S-Urate): assesses the risk of developing gout.
  • Long-term blood sugar  (B-HbA1c): helps determine if you have diabetes.

Preparation instructions and results

Preparation for research

  • You may not eat and drink 10–12 hours before the test.

In the morning before coming to the examination, you can drink a small glass of water. You do not engage in strenuous physical exercise during the day before the examination. Also avoid smoking.

Arrive early enough for sampling so that you have time to sit for 15 minutes in peace. In this way, the blood circulation stabilizes for the sampling. Remember to bring a photo ID with you to laboratory tests.

Interpretation of research results

If you want a doctor's interpretation of your examination results, book an appointment with Aava's general practitioner in online appointment booking or by calling our customer service at 010 380 3838. Please note that the doctor's interpretation is not included in the price of the health package.

The results also enter the Aava application and the Oma Aava service.

After the examination and interpretation of the results, you will be directed to further examinations if necessary.
